C13 wardrobe planning

What, don't you plan outfits when you're suffering from a migraine? It's very soothing. And it's all behind a cut-tag, so those of you that Just! Don't! Care! can scroll on by. See how helpful I can be?

Friday

Trip down: the usual sort of lace dress with a slip dress and petticoats. Fishnets and cute flats.

ElderGoth Cocktails: black & pink military jacket, black chemise, black & pink bustled knee-length skirt & petticoats, pink & black mini top hat, black fishnets, pink & black striped ballet flats, ornate choker of some sort. Attempt big hair?

Friday night performances: Add long black skirt & longer petticoats to the above outfit?

Saturday

Vendor room/a.g.f shopping trip/BPAL meet & sniff: black ruffle-back jacket w/ heart buttons, black chemise, black ruffly knee-length skirt, Madam Modiste "Queen" top hat, pink fishnets, black satin ballet flats, ornate choker.

Alternate outfit in case of The Orb: black full-skirted tank dress under a black full-skirted cotton/rayon lace dress, with the same hat/fishnets/shoes/jewelry.

Saturday night performances (if I even go): black & pink batwing hem skirt with hoops, black satin corset, black “bustle back” corseted jacket, Peacock Blue "Mina" hat, big black beaded choker. Black satin ballet flats with ankle socks since the skirt is almost floor-length.

Sunday

Tea Party: Black lace high-collar blouse (with a chemise!), black knee-length skirt with petticoats worn under the calf-length skirt with ivory/pink lace ruffles. Pink & black underbust corset. Pale pink fishnets, black granny boots. Jet cross brooch at the collar of the blouse. Mini top hat with antique beaded ribbon, black and ivory feathers, and pale pink veil. Fishnet fingerless gloves with pink ribbons.

Sunday night performance: Black and pink polonaise worn over the pink & black striped skirt. Ornate choker with large cross, pink & black mini top hat. Pink & black striped ballet flats with ankle socks.

Notes:

- The only outfit I need to try on and see if it works is the Tea Party outfit. Everything else are combinations I've worn before. Do I want to attempt to make a tulle and lace jabot to wear with the black lace blouse?

- I need to add the ivory feathers and pale pink veil to the mini top hat that has the antique beaded ribbon.

- I need to sort through all of my chokers and decide which ones to use for which outfits.

- Hmmm, that's 4 mini top hats. Well, I kinda expected that.

- Parasols! Parrot-headed parasol, pink and black parasol ... I shouldn't need more than two, should I?

So, for those of you that actually read all that; any comments? I'm trying to decide what other alternate pieces I should pack in case the weather is beastly. At least one more heavily-decorated cotton/rayon lace dress, but what else?

I also intend to "cheat" and wear knee or ankle length socks with my floor length skirts. I mean if I am wearing a corset under all that, pantyhose are sure as hell not going to happen. One has to think of bathroom logistics...LOL

OH MY, you have actually been more meticulous than me.

[identity profile] icarusfell.livejournal.com 2007-05-16 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I didn't plan anything for the train ride to Portland. Other than that we are pretty neck and neck for the details.

Do you ever put complex text aside to re-read and parse more slowly? That's what I'll have to do with this fascinating wardrobe plan. I'm too overwhelmed by the detail. *shakes head in wonder*

Thanks for sharing the packing list! (I'm sorry I had to miss the last installment of "alexia's packing for europe" - I was looking forward to that!)

As usual, I am in total awe of your wardrobe creativity. I am really just hoping that it won't be too hot, since I have no warm weather outfits and if it is, I'm hoping for air conditioning.

I'm thinking I'll wear the same thing for all of Friday night. Either that or I'll wear my daytime outfit to cocktails & then change for the evening afterwards. I don't know.

I like how you have everything in similar color schemes -- I assume this makes makeup & purses easier to coordinate? I'm ending up w/lots of purples for the same reasons. Must work on list!

Thanks for posting yours :-)

The similar color scheme is partially to make makeup and purses easier (and thank you for reminding me, 'cos I hadn't thought about which purses I am taking besides my everyday one), but it's mostly because the majority of my wardrobe really IS black with pink accents.

My Friday night outfit is what I'm wearing to the MCR concert on Monday night. I'm looking forward to confusing the kidlings who will be there in their skinny jeans and hoodies. ;-)

Don't forget my parasols, darling!

Bringing either of your O'sin skirts along? the stripey or the skully?

Skully might be good for daytime wear, stripe day or night wear if you don't want a long skirt.

Costuming Geeks Are Us

[identity profile] seven-veils.livejournal.com 2007-05-16 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
A girl cut from the same cloth as myself. Whew! That's sure nice to know. It confirms that Lisa and I aren't the only ones with actual detailed packing and planning lists for events like this. I talked to her about my C13 planning at her clothing sale and I'm glad to hear we all share the same sickness. The last time I spoke with Catherine about my costuming busy-ness, she was shocked and amused at the level of attention to detail and forethought I had put in to it. Excel spreadsheets anyone? She wondered if maybe she should have put more thought and consideration in to her planning. I doubt it would be necessary for her, as she can whip together amazing self made clothing to truly die for with out thinking. And when I say costuming, I don't mean it in the traditional Halloween /trick or treat sort of way, but I'm sure you knew what I meant.

"Saturday night performances (if I even go)"

At least come to the fashion show, please! *doe eyes*

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2007-05-16 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Babygirl, the fashion show is the ONLY reason I would attend the Saturday night thing. I want to be able to cheer you on!

[identity profile] mineke.livejournal.com 2007-05-16 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it starts really early, so you can just show up, see it, and then scoot...that's tentively my plan of action ;)

1 question

[identity profile] staxxy.livejournal.com 2007-05-17 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
all of your outfits seems to be decidedly pink and black. Why are you bring a peacock blue hat? Is there some sort of detailing in that outfit that makes everything match? Is just too darling to NOT wear at convergence?

Everything else sound like excellent choices.

Re: 1 question

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2007-05-17 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
ha! No, the hat was made by a company *named* Peacock Blue. It's an all-black hat. I haven't lost my mind, honest.

Re: 1 question

[identity profile] staxxy.livejournal.com 2007-05-17 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
OH!!! okay. that makes sense then. Excellent choices all around.

I would like to suggest the bunny and the Crow head hat pins.

[identity profile] brumbjorn.livejournal.com 2007-05-17 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds fabulous. All of it.

My packing list:

3-4 black t-shirts
2 pairs of jeans
1 black & white polkadot skirt
vintage black sweater to wear with above skirt
vintage ca. 1950's Girl Scout Leader uniform. **looks serious** no, really! Damn socail director duties. Know where I can get a black, short (a bit longer than kneelength)petticoat for this FAST?
gorgeous black beaded shawl I'm bringing and I don't know why.
a zillion pairs of shoes.
Fuzzy pink black and silver pure if I finish sewing it in time.
games for the "it is 2am and I can't sleep" crowd

Speaking of shoes, did those that I gave you fit? It was SO nice seeing you last week. I hope you don;t mind the last minute "this boa needs a home"

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2007-05-18 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
It was wonderful to see you too! The shoes are a smidge too big for me, so I'm going to see if they fit Kij.

if you need a black petticoat, check Red Light on Capitol Hill. They have a large costume section year-round now, and always have petticoats in stock.
