There are days when I think about trying to explain to Kids Today what sort of music was played for the first 30-60 minutes at Ye Olde Spooky Clubs because I'm pretty sure they'd never believe me.

I also remember Enigma at every play party and every fetish night. But my foremost memory of Enigma is my sister--who was a black-hearted 19-year-old deathrocker in 1990 when "Sadeness" came out--making fun of the song by mocking the flutey little refrain that comes in after the singer hisses, "Sade, dix-moi"--doot doot do doo. RIP.
