A question for the Portland peeps

So, what hotels are near the Hilton Portland & Executive Suites? Near as in a 5 block radius?

(Yeah, I'm looking to see what my hotel options are for C13. I'm sure $109 a night is a reasonable rate, but I'd like to see what other choices are out there.)

Try Starwood.com. If you join up--it's free--they get you cheaper rates at Sheraton hotels. And Sheratons have great beds, trust me on this! The savings may not be huge, but everytime you stay, you get points and eventually get free shit.

And I forgot to say "hi!". I'm such a bad Nan.

The Ace Hotel is a newly renovated place that I have heard some good buzz about, though I haven't stayed there:
1022 SW Stark St.

I've also heard good things about the Hotel Lucia on Broadway -- some friends have gone there for anniversary getaways and such. The Hotel Monaco (5th and Washington) is also newly renovated (used to be the Fifth Avenue Suites). I don't think any of these are as expensive as the Benson, the Governor or the Heathman (also all downtown), but they seem to be more original/"Portland" than, say, the Embassy (which is on SW 2nd, I think) or Marriott (which is a bit farther than 5 blocks out, near the waterfront).

I tried doing some comparison shopping online and all the ones I found nearby were around $150/night, so the $109 price ended up winning our stay.

If we go I think that I will priceline it

The Monaco and the Westin have been coming up for about 55-86$ for April and May. Considering that any of the 4 star hotels would be closer to the evening venues (and much nicer then the hilton) I rather take my chances.

I've got people from my comany trying to find a list of lesser known not-brand-name-but-nice hotels nearby. I'll let you know if I find anything else.

FWIW, some of my friends and i are are going to be renting a big van to drive down in to save money (better then three cars going with the price of gas being what it is) and to have group excursion possibilities. IF you know anylooking to hitch a ride that is willing to chip in for gas/rental, LMK
